It was the first Tudor Submariner reference to employ a unidirectional bezel on a ratchet system and the first Tudor Submariner to be fitted with sapphire crystals.

The model has a polished and brushed steel tonneau-shaped case made by Rolex, screwed down case back, "Twinlock" winding-crown, 12-hour unidirectional steel rotating bezel, sapphire crystal with cyclops lens.

Today, vintage Tudor Submariners are far rarer than Rolex ones and they represent collectors that are often on the other end of the horological spectrum.
