Omega Genève 1969 Ultra Rare Blue Sunburst Dial Automatic Overhauled
About this watch
Nowadays people often associate integrated watches with the Tissot PRX or Gérald Genta but before icons like the Royal Oak or Nautilus or even before the Rolex Oysterquartz there was this, the OG.
While Omega was making history in space, it was simultaneously experimenting with bold, futuristic design on Earth— through the Geneve line. With the case and bracelet visually merging into one form the Omega Geneve was the pioneer of the integrated design before it became “the” trend.
It is the watch that showed where modern watch design was going to go, before the world caught on.
While not as famous as the Speedmaster which was the actual watch worn on the moon it still comes from Omega’s golden era.
A time when Omega was the only watchmaker to pass the brutal NASA testing program, the only one NASA trusted with astronauts’ lives.
And Omega didn’t just meet the criteria, it passed every test without failure, and it did it while being subjected to the harshest of abuse.
And it is by providing such quality Omega helped a tiny bit in achieving what is to date one of the most impressive feats of mankind.
This is not just a vintage Omega - it’s a watch that comes from Omega’s absolute peak of both technical credibility, design innovation and which still looks as stunning today as it did back then.
There is some patina present as is the case with almost all models from this era due to the type of paint used at the time.
Wears slim (~35 mm case) but has strong wrist presence thanks to the shape (over 40 mm lug to lug)
The movement has been overhauled and runs as smoothly and reliably as it did back in 1969.
